Harold R. Blunk, Realtor
My first time on a plane was in April,1967 as a 20 year old kid from Maywood, Illinois which is a suburb of Chicago. I was being delivered to MCRD (Marine Corps Recruiting Depot)in Sand Diego, thus forever branding me as a "Hollywood" Marine.
Trained as an Artillery Forward Observer, I spent the next 21 months in Vietnam in 15 operations in and around Khe Sanh, including 20 engagements with the North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong where casualties were taken. This includes the engagement commonly referred to as Foxtrot Ridge, which was the biggest engagement in the 3rd Marine Regiment's history in Vietnam. I was attached to FOX Company, consisting of 88 Marines and sailors when we were assulted by 4 NVA Battalions. This 18 hour battle resulted in 13 Marines KIA, 33 wounded, and 234 NVA KIA. I was awarded The Silver Star for my actions at Foxtrot Ridge in addition to my other personal decorations; Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry (Silver and Bronze).
After returning to my hometown of Chicago, I joined Local 110, Motion Operators Union as a projectionist and spent my career working with ABC, NBC, WGN, and IBM among others.
After retiring in 1995 I became actively involved in several real estate ventures including in St. Croix, U.S.V. I. where I was living. I was a co-developer of the downtown historic district in Christiansted, which also included a large hotel and many retail establishments. I also purchased and rehabbed apartment buildings while living on St. Croix.
While living in Colordo I was an independent homebuilder in the Frisco area. I've been very active in the Las Vegas real estate market as an investor both buying and selling single family homes as well as apartment complexes, for both rental and rehabbing and flipping. I still am.
I've lived, and been involved in many businesses over the years; in Illinois, Virginia, New Hampshire, Colorado, Virgin Islands, Maryland, and Nevada. Many were in real estate, many were not. One of the most memorable experiences I've had was sailing across the Atlantic in a 60ft Catamaran, the "JollyMon".
When it comes to real estate, there's probably not much that I've haven't seen or personally experienced in all my years. I'm looking forward to putting that wealth of knowledge to work to help serve you and your family to accomplish your real estate goals.
